Through the RPS I run two versions of the Affinity Photo course, one for iPad users and one for desktop users.
#Affinity photo courses software
I am huge believer, as was Ansel Adams, that the editing process is equally as important as the photographic process. Knowing what you can do in the editing phase with software such as Afiinity Photo informs the type of photo you take.

The professional quality you can get from editing on a mobile platform is just incredible and if you don’t already use it and get a chance to do then I would definitely say give it a try. It has been completely reimagined for the iPad which is great but also just makes complete sense! I certainly know that I edit my images on the go using my iPad just as much as I do sat at my studio desk and it is lovely to use software that has been developed just for this purpose. What is really exciting about Affinity Photo is that alongside their desktop software they have a version purely for iPad users. I never fail to be impressed by what the lovely people who come on the courses are able to achieve within the space of day using this extremely flexible and powerful software. The workshop is supported by a resource rich website with detailed course notes, macros, and videos. It has been lovely to see how popular the Affinity Photo workshops I run through the RPS have been recently. Affinity Photo is therefore a remarkably important contribution to not only our creative practice, but also the history of digital imaging in the visual arts.

And while what can be done is impressively refined, what can be imagined and created is profoundly redefined, especially when integrated with histories and theories of visual art that contextualise our expanded aesthetic outcomes. For Affinity Photo just doesn’t replicate traditional Photoshop processes but profoundly updates and improves upon them. Our video conferencing and remote desktop software allow us to intimately and comprehensively investigate Affinity Photo and how it might contribute to our own workflows.

And it has perpetual and affordable licensing on MacOS, Windows and iOS (iPad) platforms. It also incorporates advanced Focus, Panoramic and HDR stacking with sophisticated Tone Mapping and a complete 32-bit workflow that supports RGB, HSV, HSL, LAB, CMYK and Greyscale colour models in a fully layer based interface. Whether you are adding an advanced compositing application (layers, masks, blending modes, transformations) to an existing workflow or just wanting to ‘get away’ from Photoshop’s confusing inconsistencies and vast contradictory literature, Affinity Photo’s more enlightened, functional and accurate manner is worthy of serious consideration. This introductory-intermediate workshop explores Affinity Photo as a compelling alternative to Adobe Photoshop. BOOKINGS FAQ TESTIMONIALS ENQUIRIES Studio Workshops Online – Live and Interactive
